Performance of an Archimedes screw turbine with spiral configuration for hydrokinetic applications

The performance of an Archimedes spiral turbine (AST) for hydrokinetic applications was examined using a three-dimensional unsteady numerical model utilizing the six degrees freedom (6-DOF) solver that is available in ANSYs Fluent software. From computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, power coefficient (Cp) curve estimated. This compared with screw (ASHT) reported literature. ASHT found to be more efficient than AST electricity generation. highest value Cp 0.337, which relatively high comparison other types turbines. results calculated from CFD were experimental study wind applications.
